Take a peak… Hawkes Bay’s Registered Master Build Winner

The Registered Master Builders House of the Year is a competition that recognises New Zealand’s best residential buildings. It’s considered the most prestigious competition in the building industry with over 300 homes competing at each regional level and the Top 100 advance to the national competition.  We get to see a range of homes from new builds through to renovations and special projects or elements within homes entered, that are considered outstanding based on their workmanship.

One stand out home would have to be this spectacular Hawkes Bay country house with a man-made lake overlooking the Tukituki River in the shadow of the Te Mata Hills.  Built by Redmond Builders…a whopping 354sqm, this home is impressive but it’s the uniqueness of two distinct spaces that captures your imagination and not to mention the oppositional use of engineered vs. natural materials,  and sharp lines vs. a curvaceousness of concrete to create a crafted home which is a work of art.  As you would expect this home has all the luxury in the main living house with 7m long kitchen benchtops’, floor to ceiling doors which open to the expanse of the countryside with elegant furniture and fireplaces inside and out.  Evenings curled up on the sofa outside enjoying the views with a fine Hawkes Bay cabernet, the fire roaring and watching the ever-changing landscape would become a pastime.  The sleeping house as it’s aptly called has two bedrooms with lux bathrooms and views of the vista.  The finest materials are plentiful within this home, from slate tiles to spotted gum and oak ceilings and blackened steel walls.
