The Block NZ 2019… Finale Fizzer

Finale night of The Block NZ Firehouse 2019 was highly anticipated but it soon turned out to be a frustrating show for most viewers as three out of the four teams failed to make any profit on auction night. The shows format demands they sell at auction which given the sluggish real-estate climate it was setting the teams up for a tough ask according to experts. We’re simply not in a place where property like this is hotly contested.

So the winners were Lisa and Ribz as they we’re the only team to make a profit selling 50k over reserve plus taking home The Block 100k prize. Two other apartments sold for just reserve price and a fourth apartment remains unsold.

Just why Lisa and Ribz apartment is the only one to sell for more than reserve is a question worth asking, as their performance week by week has not exactly hit the mark with the judges. Loyal fans have setup a Give a little page for Ethan and Sam as they’re clearly the nations favourites, taking out the People choice award.

Winners of the People’s Choice Award and Suzuki S-Cross Prestige. Ethan Ordish and Sam Whatarangi

All contestants have given up alot for 12 weeks, being away from family, no income and in a constant reno pressure test so it’s a tough situation to see three teams go home empty handed. Rumour has it Warner has purchased a couple of properties in Point Chev and that could well be the location for next years The Block, assuming they will have some hardy DIY volunteers and disappointed fans are willing to tune back in!
