Inside The Block Firehouse Master Bedroom and Ensuite

WEEK 4  MASTER BEDROOM AND ENSUITE CREATES WOW AND SHOCK FACTOR…

What a week and with alot of tension between the teams and design work to do.  Off the back of bathroom disasters, it was back to four teams again and the pressure was on for getting good results. Sophie and Makaere had a massive Master bedroom plan to roll out combining two rooms to change the entire layout of their apartment, and all other teams had something to prove as they didn’t finish their bathroom projects during week 3.

This resulted in a massive change up in points and Lisa and Ribs stealing the show with their stunning Master Bedroom and ensuite. Each team had to choose a statement tile at the start of the week from a collection the judges had pulled together.  Lisa and Ribs put their stunning emerald tile to good effect and drew inspiration from that for their master bedroom colour.  The judges Jason Bonham and Lizzi Whaley felt their room was clean, fresh and nicely finished.

 TEAM SOPHIE & MAKAERE…

Whilst Sophie and Makaere delivered a massive master bedroom and ensuite showing off their design skills , the judges felt it was badly over styled to the point of cluttered.  To make things worse The Block cameras revealed Sophie and Makaere had completed more work on the room after ‘tools down’ so they were disqualified  – walking away with no points at all.  To ‘Shop the look’ for Sophie and Makaere’s elements click here.

TEAM STACEY AND ADAM…

The Wellington duo did a pretty good job of their master and ensuite space this week, not enough to win the challenge but perhaps enough to redeem themselves from the unfinished bathroom they presented last week. For their master, the judges liked it and said they did really well. They liked the contrast paneling on the wall, the room was nicely styled and they had created a light and airy room.  The under window seat was also well received. In the ensuite they choose a Terrazzo speckled tile from the judges collection offered laying this on the floor and then paired this with a poorly laid terracotta subway tile on the walls with painted black areas pulling it together.  The judges felt switching the light and dark tiles around would have brightened up the space showing how important it is to consider how much and where you lay your tiles!  To shop the look from Team Stacey and Adam click here.

TEAM ETHAN AND SAM…

Poor lads is all we can say this week… as it was another disaster from the judges point of view scoring low points.  Their recessed box side tables had fits of laughter from the judges saying “they’re really bad”.  Ethan and Sam selected an Aqua tile from the collection the judges laid out at the start of the week and combined this into their overall colour scheme. It all became a bit too aqua overall showing you can tie too many elements together and loose your way with the space.  To shop the look from Team Ethan and Sam click here
